Something I’ve come to realise lately:
When life gets overhwelming, when we’re angry, upset, stressed, sad or confused, often, we retreat or we run. Life isn’t easy, it has it’s ups and downs and it’s my belief that, as much as we can’t control what happens, we can control our reactions.
But let’s face it, it’s not all sweetness and light. There are times when we wonder why, why did this happen? More importantly, why did it happen to me? There are times when we’d much rather stick our heads into the sand than deal with what is being hurled at us. But we can’t, we have to face life head on. And that’s harder than anything: Keeping calm and carrying on.
Lately I’ve chatted to a few people who, for very different reasons, are feeling the same as me. So I have some advice for all of us that may help us… but it could also be a load of bullshit so you might have to take this with a pinch of salt:
When your thoughts overload you, it sometimes makes it bearable to fully immerse yourself in the good moments, to squeeze every bit of fun and happiness out of them that you can.
If you live for each perfect moment, they might just start joining up. You could begin to have your version of the perfect life.
And if not, at least you had some perfect moments to remember.
No matter what else is happening, live for these perfect moments… or they may just pass you by.
